not a second lost to charity, not a moment
bathed in peace, tranquility

do claims of basic goodness bear scrutiny?
they buckle under the pressure of reality
as each good is outweighed by inherent depravity

the systematic destruction of the many:

a testament to the moral bankruptcy
that plagues the human race
within their wretched hearts
there’s not a trace of humanity

only methodical ruthlessness

the lights of grace and altruism are snuffed out
in a single moment of history when we
come to grips with the truth of the matter:
only malevolence is immanent

do claims of basic goodness bear scrutiny?

a subjective conception of morality provides us with no standard to judge
or condemn those actions we deem inhumane; it fails us
